As is the case when dining out in Christchurch, there seem to pubs to suit all tastes. From wine bars to English and Irish style pubs, and from the cheap backpacker frequented bars to ritzy, up-market clubs, Christchurch has it all. Christchurch’s most lively area is in the vicinity of the Bridge of Remembrance, which is where Oxford Terrace intersects with the Cashel Mall. Most people head to this area after filling up at their favourite bar or café first. If your interests are in something a little more seedy, head to the other end of the mall, and Lichfield Street, where Polynesian techno and hip-hop clubs dominate, this area would be the closest Christchurch has to a red-light district, and would best not be ventured into alone.
